Mega-hit Netflix original show Stranger Things is going to be back on Netflix for a fourth season in 2021.
Stranger Things first arrived on Netflix back in July 2016 and has since become the greatest flagship show of the streaming service.
On September 30, Netflix had confirmed that Stranger Things would be back for a season 4. In addition to this, a multi-year deal has also been signed between Netflix and The Duffer Brothers.
While numerous rumors have been coming in that the Netflix Application is displaying a release date of August 2021, nothing is certain as no official announcement regarding the release date has come as of yet. Apart from that, the filming is still going on.
There is a greater likelihood for the season to start streaming in the latter half of 2021. Word has it that at the Super Bowl of the current year, Netflix will unveil the first look of the fourth season of Stranger Things.
As for the production, it is underway. Amid June 2020, confirmation came that the entire script was complete for Stranger Things season 4.
The fourth season of Stranger Things started filming on January 7, 2020. Originally, the season was scheduled to end filming by August 5, 2020. But due to the coronavirus and the global pandemic, production stopped in March 2020, having filmed two episodes.
After a gap of nearly five months, the production restarted filming on September 28, 2020.
For the first time in the history of the show, some part of the production will occur outside of Atlanta.
From the teaser trailer fans came to learn that Stranger Things had started filming broadly in Vilnius, Lithuania. Besides set pictures, Movieweb had announced that the team of Stranger Things was done with the shooting of “The American” part at Vilnius back in February.
The rest of the production will take place back in Atlanta, Georgia.
While talking about whether or not the series will extend beyond four seasons, the Director of the show, said that it depends upon The Duffer Brothers and their writing process.
However, The Duffer Brothers themselves are not clear about the future seasons of the show. While talking with E-news in an interview, they said four to five-season is where they would probably end the series, however, they did add that it was not confirmed yet so more seasons could be happening or not.
But as the multi-year deal is still in the game, fans can look forward to watching some more content from The Duffer Brothers.
On the other side, the biggest question that kept bothering fans was if or not David Harbour would be coming back as Jim Hopper in the fourth season. Thankfully, Netflix confirmed in February 2020, that he would be back.
